Situated at the northern end of the Isle of Skye the Waternish Peninsula is accessed by the B886 road at Fairy Bridge, just off the A850, which runs from Portree to Dunvegan.

A holiday break on the Isle of Skye is always a good idea, and the Waternish Peninsula, an area that changes little with the passage of time, is the ideal antidote for those needing to escape from the stresses and strains of everyday modern life. Its spectacular location, with its outlook to the Western Isles and Outer Hebrides, presents a wonderful array of lighting conditions for the photographer. This, together with the wonderful wildlife, including seals, otters, dolphins, herons and eagles, makes this traditional crofting area the perfect location to get away from it all.

Waternish, despite being a remote area, has a vibrant community and offers the visitor plenty to see and do. The picturesque conservation fishing village of Stein is beautifully situated in Loch Bay, within easy reach of Dunvegan (8 miles) and Portree (25 miles) the island's capital. The Stein Inn is the oldest Inn on the Isle of Skye and has the Dandelion Designs craft shop and gallery next door. There are beautiful walks along shoreline as well as forestry walks to explore . For the more energetic a trip east to the neighbouring Trotternish Peninsula will present more challenging terrain with "The Old Man of Storr" (719m) being the highest point.
