Walk Leader : John Adams
John Adams is a walk leader for a group of walkers known as the Wyre Ramblers. On the coach for each trip John provides a brief printed summary of the planned walk for those wishing to join him.
The walks his group undertakes make good
use of not being constricted to a circular route. With a suitable dropping off and pickup point John plans many fine walks along some of the less frequented footpaths of Northern England.

A late change in plans. We'd set out for Hayfield but took a wrong turn at Glossop and we found ourselves, unable to turn round on the A57 Snake Pass road, on route for Sheffield. We were miles from our intended destination. For some unknown reason a city centre walk on a red hot day in July didn't appeal so a detour to Castleton seemed the best option. John quickly substituted the designated Hayfield walk with an improvised route from Ladybower Reservoir, just north of Bamford. From here we would walk to Castleton via Winhill Pike, Lose Hill, Hollins Cross and Mam Tor.
