This August has been hot, damp and cloudy. Just the sort of weather conditions I hate for walking and in which I find it all to easy to stay at home and decline into the proverbial rut. Desperate to get some exercise, for both body and mind, I'm getting to the point of desperation when a rare opportunity for a day out arrives.

Not a brilliant weather forecast, but one that holds out some hope for a half decent day, fresher than of late with improving conditions in the late morning with some sunny spells predicted for the afternoon.

Silverdale is situated at the northern end of Lancashire's coastline and is a real gem of an area to explore. Perfect for a late summer's day when the hedgerows are laden with blackberries and fresh sea breezes give a hint of a change in the seasons.

To get me back into the mood for more energetic trips a short circular walk of less than 6 miles is planned. We will start out from the free car parking area at Eaves Wood to the east of the village.
