TOM GILL FREE CAR PARK
Footpath : 0.37 miles
From the car park cross the footbridge and follow the uphill footpath to Tarn Hows

TARN HOWS
Cumbria Way Footpath : 0.235 miles
On reaching Tarn Hows we follow the footpath north before departing by a (R) path
Path : 0.858 miles
(R) Follow the path around the lake to pick up a footpath
Footpath : 1.43 miles
Heading south to the Tarn Hows car park. (L) and south through Hill Fell Plantation, taking a (R) fork to a lane just above the B5285 road
B5285 Road : 0.191 miles
Southwest along an unmarked roadside path to High Water Head
Footpath : 0.613 miles
(R) to pass Boon Crag Farm, then (L) to pass through Guards Wood to High Guards before again joining part of the Cumbria Way
Cumbria Way Footpath : 0.294 miles
(L) and southwest to the edge of Coniston at Shepherd Bridge. (L) south along the lane, (R) along B5285 into the heart of Coniston

CONISTON
After refreshment retrace steps to Shepherd Bridge again join the Cumbria Way

Cumbria Way Footpath : 0.965 miles
Follow the way northeast through Back Guards Plantation to join a track. Continue along the line of the Cumbria Way to Low Yewdale or take the (R) track to join a footpath above Boon Crag Farm, take a (L) and follow the footpath northwest to Low Yewdale
Footpath : 0.431 miles
Take the 2nd (R) of two footpaths at Low Yewdale, heading north for High Yewdale
Road : 0.173 miles
(L) West for a short distance then take a (R) lane for a short distance
Permitted Footpath : 0.481 miles
(R) East to join (R) footpath and go through Yew Tree Farm (Photo) to join A593 road
A593 Road :
(L) northeast for a short, but "dangerous", distance back to "Tom Gill" car park at Glen Mary
