walking, just
a little navigation required, when crossing the fields at Hind Hill.
Although Abbeystead has a village school it is only regarded as a hamlet, as are the other three settlements visited, those of Lower Lee, Tarnbrook and Marshaw. Before starting out don't miss going the 100 yards or so into Abbeystead. It has what is arguably the prettiest setting for a bus terminus in the whole of Great Britain. If you ever have to stand and wait for a bus then there surely cannot be a more tranquil setting. A babbling brook, complete with ducks, old cottages and a village school. While you're there take a look at the notice board and get an insight as to what goes on in this isolated rural Lancashire community. _____________________________________ Distance : 6.63 miles Type
